The agency was founded in 1972 by Charles Meyer who saw a great need in providing local, friendly, knowledgeable and superior insurance services for the area residents and businesses. The agency is now in its second generation with the addition of Christine Meyer Blood as one of its principles.
We are proud to be active in the community with numerous sponsorships for local high schools, churches, sports programs, non-profit organizations and community outreach. Recently, the agency assisted the Lemay Housing Partnership in obtaining a $15,000 grant from Safeco.
In 1972, Charles Meyer started an independent insurance agency in his own name. In the years following, Charles devoted much of his time to serving the community, including a position as President of the Mehlville School Board and as one of the founding members of the South County Chamber of Commerce. Now Charles is happily retired, but not without leaving the business in capable hands. His daughter, Christine Meyer Blood (Oakville High ’82), has worked at the agency since 1988 and took over the business in 2010. The Charles Meyer Insurance Agency seeks to recognize the same entrepreneurial spirit that keeps the agency running every day. One current Senior who meets the scholarship qualifications will receive $1,000 towards the college education of his or her choice.
